    • PURPOSE: A process for preparing optically active 5-hydroxy-3-oxoheptanoate derivatives with optical activity is provided to be useful in the manufacture of a statin compound and to ensure mass production and high yield. CONSTITUTION: A process for preparing optically active 5-hydroxy-3-oxoheptanoate derivatives with optical activity comprises the steps of: ring-opening a compound of the chemical formula 2 and nitromethane sodium salt; preparing an intermediate compound of chemical formula 5 through substitution reaction with cyanide without a refining process; ring-opening a compound of the chemical formula 3 and cyanide; preparing an intermediate compound of chemical formula 5 through substitution reaction with nitromethane sodium salt; preparing an intermediate compound of chemical formula 6 through ring opening reaction of a compound of the chemical formula 4 and nitromethane sodium salt; and reacting the intermediate of chemical formula 5 or 6 with chemical formula 7 in the presence of zinc.
