    • PURPOSE: A composition for manufacturing a mineral wool fiber is provided to have an excellent solubility about the body fluid; the high heat resistance; the water resistance; and low thermal conductivity by including SiO2, Al2O3, FeO, Fe2O3, CaO, MgO, and Na2O+K2O to the optimal content. CONSTITUTION: A composition for manufacturing a mineral wool fiber includes 29-42wt% of SiO2; 17-23wt% of Al2O3; 3.6-7.2wt% of FeO; 0.1-4.8wt% of Fe2O3; 18-28wt% of CaO; 7-13wt% of MgO; 1-5wt% of Na2O+K2O. The Redox value of the iron within the composition is more than 0.6. The composition is manufactured by melting the raw material with an electric furnace by using electric resistance method which uses graphite electrode. The mineral wool fiber which has biodegradation property is made from composition for manufacturing a mineral wool fiber. The mineral wool fiber satisfies at least one physical property of the followings: the melting rate constant about an artificial body fluid of the pH 4.5 is more than 300 ng/cm^2·hr; heating linear shrinkage rate (1,000°C/1 hour maintenance) is less than 5%; water-resistant test (100°C/5 hours maintenance) is less than 1%; thermal conductivity is less than 0.037W/mK or less.
