    • An electrode assembly is provided to improve safety by preventing an internal short circuit causable by shrinkage of a separator in a high-temperature environment without affecting a production process when unit cells are folded in a separation film. An electrode assembly(100) is formed by folding many unit cells in a long sheet-like separation film(400). The unit cell has a laminate structure in which a separator(nonwoven separator, 300) of a nonwoven fabric structure is interposed between a positive electrode(210) and a negative electrode(220). The separation film is not formed of a nonwoven fabric but a separation film(porous separation film) of a porous thin film structure. The nonwoven separator is made of a material having excellent heat resistance and low thermal shrinkage.

    • A secondary battery is provided to inhibit the shrinkage phenomenon of a separator at higher temperature, thereby preventing the internal short circuit, to decrease a sealing portion of a battery case, thereby improving the sealability, and to ensure improved safety. A secondary battery(100) is manufactured by putting an electrode assembly(200) with a stacked structure of a positive electrode(210), a negative electrode(220) and a separator(230) interposed therebetween into a battery case(300), and sealing the battery case, wherein the battery case includes an integrated structure in which a lower case(310) including a concave container(340) for loading the electrode assembly and an upper case(320) for sealing the container as a cover of the lower case are mutually connected at one edge. The electrode assembly is mounted into the container so that its electrodes are protruded in the direction(a) of one side(350) adjacent to the connection(330) of the cases, and separator's circumferential sides corresponding to the direction(b) of the other side(351) and the direction(c) of an opposite side(352) to the connection as remainders(231) are fixed to a sealing portion(360,361,362) of the battery case.
