    • The present invention provides a method for reducing hot spots in a light guide plate, and the light guide plate comprises: an incident surface for receiving light from multiple discrete light sources; an emitting surface for emitting light; a bottom surface in the opposite side of the emitting surface; and an end surface in the opposite side of the incident surface. The direction from the incident surface to the end surface is defined as an Y-axis, the direction which is perpendicular to the Y-axis and is in parallel with the discrete light sources is defined as an X-axis, the emitting surface has multiple thin long grooves which are in parallel with the Y-axis and are extended from the incident surface corresponding to Y=0 to the end surface, and the bottom surface has a core zone extended from a predetermined line corresponding to Y = Y1 to the end surface and a mixing zone extended from Y = 0 to Y = Y1. The method for reducing hot spots in a light guide plate includes distribution of a set of lenses in the core zone and distribution of a set of micro-lenses in the mixing zone between Y = Y0 and Y = Y1, wherein the density of the set of micro-lenses varies in the X-axis, having a maximum value at a first location that has a same X value as the center of one of the discrete light sources, and having a minimum value at a second location that has the same X value as the center of two adjacent discrete light sources, and the size and density of the micro-lenses are selected to redirect the light from the discrete light sources toward the Y-axis and provide a ratio (L1/L0) that is between 0.9 and 1.1 for any Y >= Y1.

    • PURPOSE: A light guide plate having a two-dimensional pseudo pattern is provided to improve the overall luminance uniformity of a backlight.
