    • The present invention relates to an artificial feed composition for mass breeding Helicoverpa assulta, a host insect for Nucleopolyhedrovirus, and, more specifically, to a method for manufacturing an artificial feed composition to mass produce Nucleopolyhedrovirus and to a method for mass breeding Helicoverpa assulta, a host insect for the virus. The methods are established by: a step for manufacturing the artificial feed composition for producing the Nucleopolyhedrovirus by mixing agar, casein, whole milk powder, sucrose, linseed oil, vitamin complex, salt complex, potassium sorbate, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, aureomycin, formalin, and fresh hot pepper; a step for researching a feeding rate, a proliferation rate, and optimum growth temperature by changing concentration of the manufactured artificial feed; and a step for treating the Nucleopolyhedrovirus grown by the artificial feed to the Helicoverpa assulta, then conducting and assessing the verification of insecticidal activity. The methods have advantages in mass producing the Nucleopolyhedrovirus using the Helicoverpa assulta, improving the stability of virus production by mass breeding of the Helicoverpa assulta, and maximizing the insecticidal activity.

The strain is cultured in a medium containing 0.5 % of glucose, 0.7 % of K_2HPO_4, 0.2 % of KH_2PO_4, 0.3 % of NH_4NO_3, 0.01 % of MnSO_4·7H_2O, and 0.15 % of a yeast extract at pH 7 and 30 °C.
