    • Provided is a method for manufacturing an optical glass element having an enhanced transmittance through the press forming of a glass containing TeO2. A method for manufacturing an optical glass element through the press forming of a glass containing TeO2, wherein the press forming is conducted in an atmosphere having a partial pressure of nitrogen of 102 Pa or less. The method for manufacturing an optical glass element, wherein the surface contacting with the glass of a mold used for the press forming is made of carbon. Further, the method for manufacturing an optical glass element, wherein a formed glass prepared by the above press forming is held in an oxygen-containing atmosphere at a temperature being lower by 50°C than the glass transition temperature of the glass containing TeO2 or higher and being not higher than the softening temperature of the glass.
