    • The invention relates to a traction mechanism drive, in particular a control drive for an internal combustion engine, having an endless traction mechanism which connects a driving wheel and at least one driven wheel in a form-fitting manner and at the periphery of which are arranged at least one pressure-medium-actuated clamping device and a guide rail (1) having a supporting body (4) and a sliding lining body (2) which is fastened to the supporting body (4) at the traction mechanism side. According to the invention, in order to avoid impermissible slackening of the traction mechanism, in particular when the engine is started after a relatively long period out of operation, the guide rail (1) is formed so as to be adjustable at least partially normally with respect to the traction mechanism, is acted on with an adjusting force by at least one spring element (14) in the direction of the traction mechanism, and is provided at least with one outer stop for delimiting an adjusting movement away from the traction mechanism.
