    • PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for data transmission of a mobile station in a wireless communication system are provided to maximize the efficiency of network resources by ignoring a decoding result of a received fading burst. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus and method for data transmission of a mobile station in a wireless communication system, it is determined whether a fading bursts is included in a plurality of bursts to be transmitted. The location of the fading bursts is transmitted to a base station(300) in a determination process. A burst excluding the fading burst is transmitted to the base station. The bursts are allocated from the base station. The location and size of the allocated burst is checked. An MAC PDU is generated based on data to be transmitted. The existence of the fading burst is determined based on the size of the allocated burst and the generated MAC PDU.

The controller discontinues the communication with the serving base station. The controller transmits a second message to the target base station about communication with a target base station. The controller decides to start the communications of the target base station.     • PURPOSE: A bandwidth request device in a broadband wireless communication system and a method thereof are provided to predict generation of an ACK packet to request a bandwidth, thereby preventing delay in allocating resources. CONSTITUTION: A terminal which detects generation of a fixed number of TCP ACK packets during a fixed period requests an initial bandwidth using a BRH(110) which requests a large amount of resources. The terminal transmits ACK packets stored in a queue through the allocated resources. Resources are allocated through frames by a BRH requesting the large amount of resources so that the terminal transmits ACK packets after the allocation without transmission delay. The terminal transmits BRHs for an adaptive bandwidth request by a piggy back method.

    • A downlink QOS-guaranteed handover method in a mobile communication system is provided to secure QoS with regard to various communication services during handover of a mobile terminal. A mobile terminal transmits a handover request(MOB MSHO-REQ) message comprised of recommendation base station information based on channel environment of measured neighbor base station to a serving base station(320). The serving base station analyzes all currently used service flows of the mobile terminal(330). The serving base station calculates the maximum average transmission rate and the maximum block error rate to satisfy the QoS about all currently used service flows in the mobile terminal(340). The serving base station transmits the hand over QoS request(QOS MSBSHO REQ) message including the calculated maximum average transmission rate and the maximum block error rate to neighbor base stations(303) in which the mobile terminal can handover(350). The neighbor base stations determine whether to provide service flows while guaranteeing the QoS. The neighbor base stations transmit the service flows to the serving base station through a hand over QoS request-and-respond(QOS NBRBSHO RSP) message(360). While guaranteeing the QoS about the down link, the serving base station selects a target base station recommended during the handover process. The serving base station transmits the handover response(MOB BSHO RSP) message including the selected recommendation base station information to the mobile terminal(370).
