    • This invention provides a method for analyzing an exhaust gas, comprising exposing an exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine to a laser beam, receiving the laser beam in its part passed through the exhaust gas, and measuring the concentration of components contained in the exhaust gas based on the received laser beam. In the method for analyzing an exhaust gas, an absorption spectrum of a laser beam absorbed in the exhaust gas from the received laser beam is detected (S1). The concentration of a specific gas component is calculated from the absorption spectrum (S2). The temperature of the exhaust gas is calculated from the absorption spectrum (S3). The pressure of the exhaust gas is calculated from the absorption spectrum (S4 to S6). The concentration of the component contained in the calculated exhaust gas is corrected with the calculated temperature (S7) and the calculated pressure (S8) to output a true concentration value (S9). The method for analyzing an exhaust gas is advantageous in that the analysis can be carried out without undergoing a fluctuation in the pressure of the exhaust gas and an influence of the temperature, and the concentration of components contained in the exhaust gas can be calculated with high accuracy in real time.
