    • A method for producing a functional film using laser ablation and a composition for a laser ablation process used therein are provided to solve a damage of a substrate or ablation soot caused by the use of a laser beam having high energy. A method for producing a functional film using laser ablation includes the steps of: forming layers(102) of a laser ablation processing composition by applying the composition in which granules(103) containing metallic elements are evenly dispersed in an organic dispersion medium(104) onto a substrate(101); and sintering the layers of the composition residing on the substrate after radiation of a laser beam by radiating the laser beam onto the layers of the composition and removing the composition in a radiated part. The diameters of the granules containing the metallic elements are in the range of 0.5 to 200nm. The organic dispersion medium has an absorbance of 0.3 or higher in a wavelength of the laser beam. The organic dispersion medium contains an organic polymer or a prepolymer of the organic polymer. A part of a solvent contained in the layers of the composition is removed by drying before radiating the laser beam.
