    • PURPOSE: To provide a flow rate and flowing velocity measuring apparatus, capable of stably and accurately measuring the flow rate and flowing velocity in both the forward flow and backward flow. CONSTITUTION: The flow rate and flowing velocity measuring apparatus comprises a measuring distributing tube 332, mounted perpendicularly to a suction tube 1 of an engine to be detected and introduced with a fluid flow in the tube 1, an inlet plate 334 extended in a direction perpendicular to a flowing direction in the tube 1 to form a U-shaped pipeline in the tube 332, and a detection element 331 disposed to be exposed with the fluid flow in the tube 332 out of the tube 1 to detect the flow rate and the flowing velocity. In this case, one end of the plate 334 is projected into the tube 1 through a top opening of the tube 332. The tube 332 has a symmetrical channel structure at the element 331 as a center. The element 331 obtains equivalent outputs, when the flow flows in both the forward flow and a backward flow directions in the tube 1.

    • An oxidizing gas sensor excelling in sensitivity to oxidizing gases. In particular, an oxidizing gas sensor comprising substrate (2) having space portion (21) provided in the direction of thickness thereof; insulating layer (3) provided on a surface of the substrate so as to cover the space portion (21); exothermic elements (5) provided in the interior of the insulating layer (3) at a position corresponding to the space portion (21); gas sensing element (4) provided on a surface of the insulating layer (3) at a position corresponding to the exothermic elements (5); and electrode pairs (6) provided in contact with the gas sensing element (4), wherein the gas sensing element (4) comprises thin-film sensing layer (41) composed mainly of tin oxide and air-permeable catalyst part (42) composed mainly of gold and provided on at least part of the surface of the sensing layer (41). It is preferred that the mass basis film thickness of the catalyst part (42) be in the range of 0.008 to 170 nm. Preferably, the sensing layer (41) has such a structure that columnar tin oxide crystal grains are agglomerated, the average minor axis diameter of the crystal grains being in the range of 7 to 65 nm.

    • PURPOSE: To provide a distributary flow meter capable of reducing flow disturbances in the vicinity of a detecting element in a channel of the distributary flow meter and measuring the quantity of flow with high accuracy even in a region of a low quantity of flow. CONSTITUTION: The distributary flow meter comprises the detecting element 2 provided in such a way as to face the channel of the distributary flow meter and a venturi structure 4 formed in the vicinity of the detecting element 2 in the channel 1 for reducing flow disturbances by narrowing down the flow directed to the detecting element 2. The venturi structure 4 is provided at a location opposing the detecting element 2 in the channel 1, and includes a protrusion part 5 protruded toward the detecting element 2 in the channel 1 of the distributary flow meter.

A paste containing a gold powder and an indium oxide powder as a second reference electrode layer(22b) is spread on the platinum plated layer. A diffusion layer(5) containing a spinel is formed on the surface of a detecting electrode by a thermal spraying. The heater element is installed to contact its tip with the inside bottom of the solid electrolyte. Lead lines are withdrawn from the reference electrodes to measure internal resistance. The lead lines and the lead line of the detecting electrode are contacted with a temperature controller(7).
