    • PURPOSE: An encoder, an optical module, and a servo system are provided to enhance the straight directivity of illumination lights with respect to a slip array and to obtain fixed intensity and miniaturization by efficiently utilizing a reaching region of reflected lights. CONSTITUTION: An encoder comprises a slit array and an optical module(130). The slit array comprises a plurality of reflected slits being arranged side by side along a first measuring axis. The optical module is moved relatively to the slit array on the first measuring axis while facing to a part of the slit array. The optical module comprises a point light source and a light receiving array. The point light source radiates lights to a part of the slit array. The light receiving array comprises a plurality of light receiving elements. The light receiving elements are radiated from the point light source and receive the lights reflected in the reflected slit. The light receiving elements closer to the point light source in a direction of a second measuring axis among the plurality of light receiving elements are formed into a shape having a length shorter in a traversal direction and an opposite end part of the light receiving element and the point light source are arranged side by side along a second measuring axis of the traversal direction.
