    • Disclosed is a rod actuator, especially for secondary automotive drive units, comprising a stator and a rotor. The stator has a hollow cylindrical shape and is made at least in part of a magnetically soft material. Several grooves, in each of which a stator coil is disposed, are embodied at a distance from one another along the circumference of the stator. The stator faces several permanent magnet rings of the rotor, from which the stator is separated by a working air gap and which are magnetically oriented in alternation relative to the stator. The approximate size of the permanent magnet rings in an operating/moving direction of the rotor corresponds to the center distance between two adjacent grooves of the stator coils. The permanent magnet rings of the rotor are arranged on a rotor pipe on the side facing away from the working air gap, said rotor pipe being connected to a rod that can be moved relative to the stator. The rod forms at least one section of the magnetic return path of the rod actuator while being designed so as to absorb an actuating force at one end thereof and transmit the actuating force at the other end thereof, a motor power that is applied by the rotor being superimposed on said actuating force. ® KIPO & WIPO 2009
