    • PURPOSE: Method of making high strength-high stiffness beta titanium alloy is provided to produce TiB(titanium boride) precipitates by a suitable method such as a pre-alloyed powder metallurgy technique, thereby improving mechanical properties of beta titanium alloys, Ti-5553. CONSTITUTION: A method of making high strength-high stiffness beta titanium alloy comprises introducing boron into a beta titanium alloy to produce TiB precipitates; heat treating the titanium alloy with TiB precipitates by homogenization above the beta transus temperature of the alloy; subjecting the heat treated alloy to a hot metalworking operation below the beta transus temperature; heat treating the worked alloy with a solution treatment below the beta transus temperature; and ageing the solution treated alloy below the beta transus temperature. The TiB precipitates are accomplished by a casting, cast-and-wrought processing, powder metallurgy techniques such as gas atomization and blended elemental approach.     • PURPOSE: A titanium powder production apparatus a method thereof are provided to perform the lining of a metal powder flow path by using a metal that does not contaminate metal powder or to produce the metal powder flow path, thereby removing the contamination of the powder metal. CONSTITUTION: A titanium powder production apparatus includes an atomization chamber (12), a powder conveying tube, a cyclone separator, and a powder container. The atomization chamber is coated with di(cyclopentadienyl)titanium (CP-Ti) or has an inner side wall entirely formed of CP-Ti. The powder conveying tube is connected to the discharging opening of the atomization chamber. The cyclone separator is connected to the powder conveying tube. The powder container is connected to the cyclone separator. The inner surfaces of the powder conveying tube, the cyclone separator, and the powder container are coated with CP-Ti and are entirely formed of CP-Ti.
