摘要： The system is applied to a wheel drum in addition to the normal hydraulic brake, and comprises an annular block (4) which screws onto a slightly tapering brake drum (2). The block has a set of ratchet shaped cogs (3) around its circumference. In normal driving the block rotates with the drum, but if brake failure occurs, the drivers operates a switch to activate a solenoid (5) thus engages a pawl (6) with the cogs (3), which cause the block to screw up on the tapered drum thus applying an emergency braking force.
