    • A broadcast/communication convergence system, and an FTTH (Fiber To The Home) system that can accommodate broadcast signals of various channels and variable band signals by converging broadcast and communication signals and transmitting the converged broadcast and communication signals using an IEEE 1394 transmission method serving as a standard interface in the FTTH system for broadcast/communication convergence. An OLT (Optical Line Terminal) transfers a plurality of broadcast signals and a communication signal received from external broadcast and communication providers through a single optical signal (A). An ONU (Optical Network Unit) receives the optical signal (A) from the OLT, separates the received optical signal into the plurality of broadcast signals and the communication signal, opto-electrically converts the plurality of broadcast signals and the communication signal, switches the converted broadcast signals subscriber by subscriber, combines the converted communication signal with the switched converted broadcast signals. The result is transferred to a corresponding subscriber through a single optical signal (B). A gateway at each subscriber is implemented by IEEE 1394 protocol to receive the optical signal (B) from the ONU, separate the received optical signal into the broadcast signals and the communication signal, and transfer the broadcast signals and the communication signal to a corresponding subscriber device.

    • An FTTH(Fiber To The Home) network combining broadcast and communication through broadcast switching is provided to effectively use a bandwidth by enabling an ONU(Optical Network Unit) to perform switching on broadcast and transfer only switched broadcast information to each subscriber. An OLT(100) receives the first certain number of broadcast signals and Ethernet signals, electrooptically converts the received signals into optical signals, and transmits them according to optical WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing). An ONU(600) splits the optical signal received from the OLT(100) into the first certain number of broadcast signals and Ethernet signals and photoelectrically converts them, switches the second certain number of broadcast signals among the first certain number of broadcast signals by subscribers by using channel select information included in uplink Ethernet information and switches the Ethernet signals by subscribers, and optically transmits them. SIUs(Subscriber Interface Units) photoelectrically convert the signal received from the ONU(600), transfer the second certain number of broadcast signals and the Ethernet signals with respect to subscribers to corresponding subscriber units, process the channel select information with respect to the broadcast signals into the uplink Ethernet information, and transfer it to the ONU(600).

    • PURPOSE: A digital broadcast service system using an Ethernet protocol and its digital broadcast data transmission method are provided to transmit MPEG data at a high speed and effectively use bandwidth. CONSTITUTION: A broadcast data server(20) generates a broadcast data packet by inserting broadcast channel information into a source address field of an Ethernet communication packet format and a MAC address of a receiver into a destination address field of the Ethernet communication packet. An OLT(Optical Line Terminal)(30) receives the broadcast data packet and transmits it to an ONU(Optical Network Unit)(40). A storing unit of the ONU(40) stores broadcast channel information to be transmitted to a plurality of subscriber premises units(50) and a switching table including MAC address information of each channel. The second L2 switch(45) of the ONU(40) transmits the broadcast data packet provided from the broadcast data server(20) to a corresponding subscriber unit(50) and switches a broadcast channel according to a broadcast channel change request from the subscriber premises unit(50). The subscriber premises unit(50) inserts a previously allocated MAC address into the source address field of the Ethernet communication packet format and the broadcast channel information to be changed into the destination address field, and transmits them to the second L2 switch(45).

    • PURPOSE: An optical communication system is provided to distribute an additional band width exceeding 1 Gbps to each subscriber by optically combining a base band signal and a pass band signal and to transmit the combined signal through a common optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: A system(30) is provided with a first light transmitter(40) for responding to an inputted electric base band signal from a base band source(28) and a second light transmitter(41) for responding to an inputted electric pass band signal from a pass band source(29). The transmitters(40,41) separately generate optical signals including information on the inputted signal of each. Next, an optical coupler such as an optical power coupler(42) optically combines the optical signals to transmit the combined optical signals to a light receiver(35), which is capable of detecting and demodulating both of the base band signal and the pass band signal. The receiver(35) is also capable of executing the electricity/light conversion of the pass band signal deeper in a network to allow a central station to provide an optical pass band signal.
