    • PURPOSE: A secondary battery is provided to greatly enhance high temperature safety of the battery by having a carbon dioxide absorbent material to absorb carbon dioxide which causes of ignition and explosion of the battery at a high temperature to separate the carbon dioxide from an inside battery environment. CONSTITUTION: A secondary battery which has electrode assembly of anode/separation film/cathode which is built in a battery case and comprises an absorbent material which absorbs carbon dioxide generated from charging and discharging process of the battery in a solid phase for a liquid phase included in a granular material in the battery case in more than one part selected among electrode, separation film, electrolyte, and inner surface of battery case. The absorbent material is a structure included in an adhered state to supporting element or a structure built in a capsule.

A recess part(250) accommodating an upper surplus part of the lead film is formed on the outside of the battery case when the electrode leads are bent in contact with the outside of the battery case.
