    • An optical pickup device for condensing the light from a light source on a signal recording surface of an optical recording medium, such as an optical disc (20). A semi-spherical lens (9) of the optical pickup device has a surface (9b) facing an optical disc (20) and has a pre-set refractive index. The optical pickup device also has a slider (12) adapted for securing the lens (9) and for being in sliding contact with an optical disc (20), and a spring plate (13) adapted for thrusting and supporting the slider in sliding contact with the optical disc (20). With the optical pickup device, high density reproduction may be realized, while the tolerance value for warping during disc molding or the tolerance value for warping due to moisture absorption may be increased. In addition, the production yield and the degree of freedom in selecting the disc materials may be improved.

CONSTITUTION: A focussing control device for an optical recorder includes an interval control element(40) formed between a body tube(20) and a slider(30) with a shape memory alloy, and a control part for applying electric signals to the interval control element. The interval between the body tube and the slider is variable by the deformation of the shape memory alloy in response to the change of temperature.

    • An optical pickup apparatus for an optical disk drive records or reproduces data on or from an optical disk, includes an optical head section including an object lens focusing an incident light on the optical disk, a slider on which the object lens is mounted, wherein the slider floats over the optical disk by an air bearing generated between the optical disk and the slider, a bobbin on which the slider is mounted, and a flexure disposed between the slider and the bobbins elastically supporting the slider. A driving unit drives the slider in a tracking direction and a focusing direction. In the above construction, the slider floats over a recording surface of the optical disk due to an air bearing and a near field between the object lens and the optical disk can be controllably maintained.

    • PURPOSE: An optical pickup device of an optical disk drive is provided to latch an optical head in the state of the optical head being unloaded when a shock or an external disturbance is generated, while detaching a disk cartridge, thereby preventing system damage caused by collision between the optical head and an optical disk. CONSTITUTION: An optical head(20) has a slider(23) mounted with an objective lens(21) and raised by forming an air bearing in a gap with an optical disk. The objective lens focuses an incident light. A wire suspension(30) connects the optical head with a base member(10), to freely move the optical head in the base member. A driver drives the optical head in a tracking direction and a focusing direction. An optical head latch(50) fixes a location of the optical head separated from the optical disk, to prevent collision between the optical head and the optical disk, caused by an external shock.

Then, the beam is concentrated on a second micro lens(57a) for being focused on the recording medium. The beam is diffracted on a polarized beam hologram(91) of the optical path control layer for being detected on an optical detector(71). Herein, power is applied to coil layers(81,85) of the coil member, magnetic field is formed to change magnetic property for recording information.
