    • PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of alcohol through the direct hydrogenation of carboxylic acid is provided to be efficient for manufacturing single alcohols or mixed alcohols from single acids or mixed acids by using a hydrogenation catalyst. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of alcohol through the direct hydrogenation of carboxylic acid comprises a step of manufacturing alcohols by reacting hydrogen and carboxylic acids which is a single acid, or two or more mixed acids originated from microbial fermented liquid by using a hydrogenation catalyst. The mixed acid is two or more carboxylic acids selected from C2-7 carboxylic acids. The flux of the hydrogen is 1-100 times at molar ratio, on the basis of carboxylic acid. The pressure of the hydrogen is atmospheric pressure - 100 bar. The reacting temperature is 200-350 °C.

    • PURPOSE: A method for preparing alcohol from carboxylic acid is provided to save a production cost and by-product treatment costs by performing esterification and hydrogenolysis in one step, to obtain efficiency and profitability by producing the alcohol of a relatively high yield, to obtain high yield at a relatively low pressure, and to solve a leaching problem of a catalyst. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing alcohol includes a step of reacting carboxylic acid, alcohol, and hydrogen using a hydrogenation catalyst. In the method, esterification and hydrogenolysis are performed in one step. The carboxylic acid is alkyl carboxylic acid with a carbon number of 2~10, cycloalkyl carboxylic acid with a carbon number of 3~10, aromatic carboxylic acid with a carbon number of 6~10, or their mixture. The carboxylic acid is acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid, pentanoic acid, hexanoic acid, or their mixed acid. The alcohol is alcohol with a carbon number of 2~10, cycloalkyl alcohol with a carbon number of 3~10, and aromatic alcohol with a carbon number of 6~10.
