    • PURPOSE: A high concentration magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) slurry produced from seawater unlike conventional Mg(OH)2 slurry is provided, which has high purity, high neutralization efficiency and good carriage and storage. The resultant slurry is used as neutralizer, desulfurizer and red tide preventer. CONSTITUTION: The magnesium hydroxide slurry is produced by the following steps of: adding Ca(OH)2 and NaOH to seawater to get Mg(OH)2 cakes from Mg2+ ions in seawater; adding water to get Mg(OH)2 slurry containing 40-50wt.% of Mg(OH)2; adding 0.2-1.4wt.% of dispersant comprising acrylate monomer, water and NaOH in a weight ratio of 40 : 55 : 5 to be Mg(OH)2 slurry having a viscosity of 80-150cp. The resultant Mg(OH)2 slurry has high purity and fine Mg(OH)2 particles of 2.5micrometer size.

    • PURPOSE: Provided is a method for making a slag board which has excellent raw material retention ratio, stable dimension deformation ratio and excellent properties after curing, without using asbestos as a reinforcing fiber at high productivity. CONSTITUTION: The method for making a slag board having no asbestos comprises the steps of: kneading raw material slurry containing slag and a fibrous inorganic material having a surface area of 320 m¬3/g or more and the length change factor after drying and absorption of less than 0.0015 in a pulper; and forming the kneaded mixture in the stage of paper making. Particularly, the raw material slurry comprises 40 parts by weight or less of the slag, 10-18 parts by weight of cement, 4-8 parts by weight of calcium sulfate hemihydrate, 3-11 parts by weight of pulp, 2-5 parts by weight of calcium hydroxide, 3-10 parts by weight of silica fume, 3-10 parts by weight of bentonite, and 3-10 parts by weight of diatomaceous earth.
