    • A power supply device is provided to sense an over-voltage and protect circuits from the over-voltage by comparing an external voltage with a reference voltage. A power supply device includes a rectification unit(4,14) for rectifying AC power and a smoothing unit(8,16) for smoothing the rectified voltage. An over-voltage protection circuit(5,15) determines an over-voltage state of the rectified voltage. The over-voltage protection circuit interrupts an over-voltage before the over-voltage is applied to the smoothing unit when the rectified voltage is determined as the over-voltage. The over-voltage protection circuit includes a voltage distribution unit for distributing the rectified voltage, a voltage comparator for comparing an output voltage of the voltage distribution unit with the reference voltage, and a driving voltage generator for generating a driving voltage.
