    • A monoclonal antibody against nucleocapsid protein of SARS(severe acute respiratory syndrome) coronavirus is provided to improve affinity with SARS coronavirus nucleocapsid(N) antigen, and exhibit no cross reactivity for human coronavirus serum. A monoclonal antibody against nucleocapsid(N) antigen of SARS coronavirus is produced from a hybridoma cell(KCLRF-BP-00126) which is produced by fusing a spleen cell of a mouse immunized by the SARS coronavirus nucleocapside antigen with a myeloma cell and reacts with regions of 135th-150th amino acids and 17th-32th amino acids from the amino terminal of nucleocapsid(N) antigen of SARS coronavirus. A diagnostic kit for diagnosis of SARS coronavirus comprises the monoclonal antibody against nucleocapsid protein of SARS coronavirus, an antibody coupled with a marker capable of coloring by reacting with a substrate, and a coloring substrate, wherein the marker is HRP(horse radish peroxidase) or FITC(fluorescein isothiocyanate), and the coloring substrate is TMB(3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine).

    • A monoclonal antibody against nucleocapsid antigen of SARS(severe acute respiratory syndrome) coronavirus is provided to improve sensitivity and specificity against SARS coronavirus, thereby being useful for diagnosis and prevention of SARS coronavirus infection. A hybridoma cell(KCLRF-BP-00127) producing a monoclonal antibody against nucleocapsid antigen of SARS coronavirus is produced by immunizing a mouse with a nucleocapsid antigen of SARS coronavirus(SEQ ID NO:1), collecting a spleen cell from the immunized mouse, fusing the spleen cell with a myeloma cell, cloning hybridoma cell by using limited dilution method to obtain a hybridoma cell clone producing a monoclonal antibody against only an epitope, wherein the monoclonal antibody against nucleocapsid antigen of SARS coronavirus reacts with a region consisting of 215th-239th amino acids from the amino terminal of nucleocapsid antigen of SARS coronavirus(SEQ ID NO:1).

    • PURPOSE: Diagnostic kits for severe acute respiratory syndrome comprising nucleocapsid protein from Sars corona virus expressed in plants are provided, thereby cheaply producing the recombinant nucleocapsid protein of Sars corona virus having improved antigenicity, and diagnosing the severe acute respiratory syndrome with improved sensitivity and specificity using the nucleocapsid protein. CONSTITUTION: A plant expression vector comprises (i) a polynucleotide encoding the nucleocapsid protein of Sars corona virus of SEQ ID NO:1; (ii) a promoter which is operably linked to the polynucleotide and forms RNA molecules in a plant cell; and (iii) 3'-untranslated region causing polyadenylation of 3'-terminal of the RNA molecule. A method for producing the nucleocapsid protein of Sars corona virus from plants comprises the steps of: (a) transforming plant cells with the plant expression vector; (b) selecting a transformed plant cell; (c) regenerating the transformed plant cell into a plant to obtain a transformed plant; and (d) obtaining the nucleocapsid protein of Sars corona virus from the transformed plant. The diagnostic kit for severe acute respiratory syndrome comprises the nucleocapsid protein of Sars corona virus as an antigen.
