    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling the shape of a rolled stock in which the generation of unnecessary ON/OFF motion in a spraying device of a cooling medium can advantageously be suppressed while controlling to such an extent that the deviation from the target shape is out of a problem practically even when it is the rolled stock of a thin steel sheet such as a foil rolled stock. SOLUTION: In the method for controlling the shape of the rolled stock, one of control coefficients set by two or more layers is selected in accordance with the rolling conditions such as the target thickness of the rolled stock, and the selected control coefficient is used to obtain the absolute value of predicted shape deviation 1 calculated by a first arithmetic means 12, through a third arithmetic means 16, and meanwhile to obtain the absolute value of the predicted shape deviation calculated by the second arithmetic means 14, through the forth arithmetic means 18. When these absolute values are compared with the threshold value by a comparison means 20, and both those absolute values are not larger than the threshold value on the basis of the comparison result, a decision means 22 controls so that ON or OFF of the spraying of the cooling medium which is decided at the last control is maintained as it is.
