SOLUTION: A 1st memory 27 stores the picture quality adjustment data which are corresponding to a disk ID and a 2nd memory 28 stores the picture quality adjustment data which are corresponding to the meta-data respectively. When the ID of a disk to be reproduced is stored in the memory 27, the corresponding picture quality data are read out and adjusted. When the ID of the disk to be reproduced is not stored in the memory 27, the meta-data are detected and the picture quality adjustment data corresponding to the meta-data are read out of the memory 28 and adjusted. When the meta-data are not detected or the corresponding meta-data are not available, a prescribed picture quality state is set.

摘要： PURPOSE:To prevent picture quality deterioration which is caused when a video signal of 16:9 in aspect ratio is reproduced by the recording and reproducing for the video signals of 4:3 and 16:9 in aspect ratio. CONSTITUTION:When the video signal of 16:9 in aspect ratio is reproduced, the width of an overshoot added to the video signal for contour emphasis is set smaller than that of the signal of 4:3 in aspect ratio. Consequently, a peaking circuit 19 generates two kind of resonance frequencies corresponding to the aspect ratios. When the aspect ratio is 4:3, the same overshoot as before is added. When the aspect ratio is 16:9, the overshoot is laterally expanded on a TV together with an image, but it is previously set narrow, so the overshoot is not so wide even when expanded, thereby preventing the picture quality from deteriorating.

摘要： PURPOSE:To eliminate unbalance in resolution and to record high-definition signals maintaining interchangeability with other equipments by interleaving the carriers for the FM modulation of at least either a low frequency component signal or a high frequency component signal that are separated from each other. CONSTITUTION:A 6MHz luminance signal is frequency-divided at the boundary of 4MHz in a frequency division circuit 601. Thus, divided high-definition information signal of 4-6MHz is converted to a low frequency signal of approximately 0-2MHz in a low-frequency conversion circuit 602 by using a local oscillation frequency, subjected to an emphasis circuit 604, and inputted to a DC voltage field offset circuit 605 for interleaving. In the circuit 605, a DC potential difference in prescribed value is added to the signal in such field as determined by an even/odd number field identification signal generator 631. An output signal from the circuit 605 is subjected to an FM modulation circuit 606, a recording amplifier 607, a transformer 608, and unputted to an azimuth head 609, and thus azimuth recorded in the guard band part of a recording medium. On the other hand, the frequency divided signal of 0-4MHz and color signals are frequency-multiplexed by circuits in exactly the same formation as those of a general still video system, and recorded on a recording track by a main head.
