    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit of a balanced phase modulator of very high frequency concerning the circuit configuration of the balanced phase modulator using the slot line of microwaves/milliwaves formed on the ground conductor surface of a dielectric board. SOLUTION: In order to provide the modulated output of phase shift quantity 0-π at the output terminal of a line for synthesizing two lines branching an input signal into two parts, positions for mounting two diodes 2a and 2b for turning on/off the respective lines for synthesizing these two branched lines on the lines are set at positions mutually separated for a certain specified length different from the positions just after branching from a slot line 3 for input signal toward two slot lines 3a and 3b but circuit constituting means 3c and 3d are provided for producing a state equivalent with the state of short- circuiting/opening the input terminal of the slot line for a length λg/4 for synthetic output at the final section of two branched lines in the manner of high frequency.

    • PURPOSE:To make the substrate preparation and circuit packaging of a microwave balanced modulator easier and, at the same time, to reduce the cost of the modulator, by constituting all the transmission circuits constituting the modulator on one surface of a dielectric substrate together with micro-strip lines. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a dielectric substrate 100, all the transmission circuits, such as the-1st 4th strip conductors 1-4 used as micro-strip lines, a strip-shaped dielectric base plate 5, the 1st and 2nd diodes 61 and 62, etc., which are required by this device are constituted. An inputted carrier P1 of a microwave is opposite-phase distributed to conductors 2 and 3 through a conductor 1 and the base plate 5 and offset by a conductor 4. Thus a balanced state is maintained. When a modulation signal P3 is inputted, the diodes 61 and 62 are turned on/off in accordance with the sign (positive or negative) of the input pulse and a modulated signal P2 is outputted. When all the transmission circuits are constituted on one surface of the base plate 100 in such way, the substrate preparation and circuit packaging become easier and the cost can be lowered.

    • PURPOSE:To correct the level difference of two kinds of modulated signal into '0' by a single power supply by adopting the constitution that the level and direction of a bias current of a diode are set optionally. CONSTITUTION:A bias voltage of an intermediate tap 1c at the input side is set by a resistance value of the tap 1c of a variable resistor 11 and the impedance of a digital signal line 14 through the voltage division of a single power voltage and the bias voltage of the tap 3c at the output side is set by the voltage division of the resistor of the tap 3c of the variable resistor 11 and the impedance of the resistor 13. Thus, in adjusting the position of a slider 12 of the variable resistor 11, the bias voltage between the taps 1c, 3c is adjusted to set the potentials difference of the balanced coils 1b, 3b of the input and output sides optionally. Then the potential difference changes the level and direction of the bias current flowing to diodes 5, 5... to correct the impedance of the diodes 5, 5..., thereby correcting the level difference of two kinds of modulated signals caused at a modulated signal output terminal 4 to '0'.
