摘要： PURPOSE:To perform switching of high repetition in a high voltage condition by providing at least a pair of anode and cathode installed in a vacuum container and an electron beam irradiation device. CONSTITUTION:A vacuum switch is composed of at least a pair of anode 3 and cathode 5 provided in a vacuum container 1 and an electron beam irradiation device. Before starting discharge, in between the anode 3 and cathode 5 being vacuum, without dispersing an electron beam 10, the anode surface is rapidly irradiated, and a metal particle is generated and is turned into plasma, whereby discharge can be started rapidly in a main circuit 17. Discharge jitter can thus be reduced. After the discharge, the metal particle, plasma are rapidly diffused from the discharge space, and insulation is rapidly restored so as to start next discharge immediately. Namely, discharge starting time can be expedited, which means that the number of switching of high repetition can be increased in a short period of time.

A cylindrical alumina- coated tube 18, which is provided with a conductive layer at 50-100Å thickness, is covered on the cathode 11 with which the support 17 contacts, so as to insulate between the cathode 11 and the gate electrode 12.

CONSTITUTION:A cold-cathode triode is constituted of a cylindrical anode 1, a pair of cathodes 3 and 4, a vacuum vessel 5, lead wires 6 and 7, a magnetic-field producing device 8, and a controlling electrode 9 which is led outside the vessel 5 by means of a lead wire 12. The controlling electrode 9 penetrating the hollow center 2 of the anode 1, is located apart from the center axis of the hollow cylindrical center 2, and is placed parallel to the magnetic field produced by the magnetic-field producing device 8. The controlling electrode is earthed by means of an input unit 25 serving for maintaining variable voltages.
