On the other hand, at the request for the title system stabilizing operation, the ACs DC converter 4 is immediately deblocked without open-circuiting said superconducting permanent current switch 2 so that the accumulated energy of the first superconductive coil may be charged and discharged between the power system 8 through the intermediary of the second superconductor coil 5 to detect any quenching phenomenon observed in the first and second superconducting coils 1, 5 by detectors 9a, 9b for protecting said coils 1, 5 by open-circuiting the AC breaker 6.

Thereby, when the current limitation of a coil is released and returned again to the simultaneous control mode of an effective-power output and a reactive-power output, the effective power output P becomes equal to the effectivepower target value Ps, and the generation of hunting is prevented.

Since the current limiter begins to function when the short circuit current exceeds the critical current of the superconductor 1 due to failure, the operation starting current of the current limiter can be controlled as designed by regulating the strength of magnetic field at a part applied with magnetic field. Furthermore, the set value of operation starting current of the current limiter can be altered any number of times. This constitution reduces operation cost and realized downsizing.

摘要： PURPOSE:To manufacture a case for a superconducting coil strong enough to withstand an electromagnetic force without causing any damage or thermal effects on its contents through a simple method. CONSTITUTION:A coil case 2 is composed of a U-shaped first member 7 and a second member 8, a coil 1 is housed in the U-shaped first member 7, the second member 8 is fitted to the outside of the first member 7, and the members 7 and 8 are welded together at their ends. At this welding operation, liquefied gas 9 is made to flow through a path 5 provided between the coil 1 and the case 2 to cool them. By this setup, a coil case is kept free from damage preventing its contents from being thermally affected and least deformed by welding while the case is manufactured. A superconducting coil case very high in strength and reliability can be obtained.
