電圧リミッタの要素（１，４，５）を独立した空間（２４，２６，２８）内に配置することによって、コンパクトなモジュール構造が実現される。電圧リミッタのエネルギー負荷のかかる要素、すなわちバリスタ（１）及びスイッチングポイント（５）が、場所的に互いに分離される。その結果、これらの要素は、互いに関係なく冷却され得る。一般に電子的に作用する操作手段（５）が電磁的に遮蔽された空間（２８）内に格納されていることによって、同じに電圧リミッタの動作信頼性が向上する。特に望まない高エネルギーの電磁ノイズが、この空間から遠ざけられる。

In the tank-like lightning arrester, field stress can be controlled low without enlarging a size of an entire of the grounding tank 2 by enlarging a distance between the shield 4b and the grounding tank 2 by a depth of the manhole 8.
