    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection controller for a sensor, in which a minimum current value required for detection can be ensured by suppressing generation of radio noise, and a crew-member detection apparatus.SOLUTION: A detection controller 2 for a sensor 1 includes: signal applying means 21 for applying an amplitude signal of which the amplitude is varied; first switching means 22 for switching a connection between fault detection and normal detection; signal detecting means 23 for detecting a change in voltage or current when the amplitude signal is applied; and control means 24 for controlling the first switching means 22 and the signal detecting means 23. A resistor R(impedance part Z) is connected to a path in which the amplitude signal is propagated. A resistance value (impedance value) of the resistor Ris set within such a range that a current lower than or equal to a critical current value with which the amplitude signal applied to the path can be oscillated without distortion flows and a current equal to or more than a minimum current value required for both the fault detection and the normal detection flows. Such a configuration suppresses generation of radio noise and ensures a minimum current value required for detection.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a seismograph itself from becoming nonfunctioning state and improve its operation rate by constituting a sensor with a plurality of sensor parts, periodically performing self test and separating and degenerating failed sensor parts. SOLUTION: A plurality of sensor parts 21 to 2n are provided as a sensor 2. The sensor parts 21 to 2n are connected in parallel to a measurement processing part. The measurement processing part calculates seismic intensity based on acceleration signal outputs from the each of the operating sensor parts 21 to 2n , outputs alarm signal and displays and records the seismic intensity. Voltage self test and current self test are performed periodically in the operating state of the seismograph to detect failures. The measurement processing part judges the existence of failure and separates the sensor parts 21 to 2n in which failures are detected from operation state and make new normal sensor parts 21 to 2n in operation state. Therefore, the maintenance and exchange of the sensor parts 21 to 2n can be done even with the operation of the seismograph and the operation rate is improved.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily determine the operating condition and accuracy of a seismometer by a method wherein a vibrator is connected to a pair of slide bases 1 always linked to each other where a seismomerter is installed to apply vibration and a calibration value is determined based on a measured value from the seismometer and a reference value. SOLUTION: Upper and lower slide bases 2 and 3 always linked to each other by a link device 4 are placed on an installation foundation part 1 and a vibrator 6 is linked to the base 3 with a link device 8 of an arm 7. The linking of the device 4 is released in the vibrator 6 by a link releasing signal or the like from a signal transmitter 10, the device 8 is linked thereto and the device 6 applies vibration equivalent to earthquake acceleration to the base 3. Measurement data of the vibration of the semisometer 5 on the base 3 are sent to a data processing section 24 via the device 10. A data gaining means 242 for calibration compares the data with a reference value data previously stored to define a deviation thereof as data for calibration. In the normal operation, an earthquake motion data processing means 246 calibrates the measurement data of the seismometer 5 by a corresponding data for calibration to determine a true earthquake motion data.
