    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately fasten a one-side rim to an other-side rim 12 and 14, which constitute a divided rim 11. SOLUTION: The other-side rim 13 is provided with a cylindrical part 26 to be inserted in a cylindrical part 16 of the one-side rim 12. One part (tip part) of the inside cylindrical part 26 superposed on the outside cylindrical part 16 is enlarged while elastically deforming the part outward in a radial direction by a taper surface 39 of a piston 38 to bring the inside and outside cylindrical parts 26 and 16 into tight contact with each other. The relative positions of the one-side and other-side rims 12 and 13 are thereby tightly specified to heighten their assembly accuracy especially their concentricity accuracy. • PURPOSE:To provide an unbalance-measuring method of a wheel which enables judgement of uniformity of a tire mounted on a vehicle easily and accurately with a simple means urement and judgement of a quality wheel assuring safety and high riding comfortableness, while achieving a smaller size and a lower price of equipment. CONSTITUTION:In this unbalance measuring method of a wheel, a wheel 2 is rotated and unbalance of the wheel 2 is measured with a vibration detector for detecting the vibration of the wheel 2. A vibration detector 11 to detect vertical vibration of a wheel shaft 4 and a vibration detector 10 to detect horizontal vibration thereof 4 are arranged in proximity to each other at a part responding to the vibration of the wheel shaft 4. A weight unbalance of the wheel 2 is determined from a detection signal of the horizontal vibration while uniformity unbalance of a tire is determined from correlation between detection signals of the horizontal and vertical vibrations.

    • PURPOSE:To make inspection of shimmy efficient by a method wherein wheels connected to a steering wheel are supported and rotated on a pair of rollers being different in an outside diameter and so coupled as to be concentric and integral substantially and rotable. CONSTITUTION:Front wheels WL and WR of an automobile are supported on rollers 2L and 2R and movements thereof are regulated laterally by guide rollers 18 and in the direction of advance by chokes. After setting, the wheels and the rollers are rotated by driving an engine. Although the rollers 2L and 2R coupled through the intermediary of a coupling shaft 10 and equal-speed joints 11 are rotated concentrically and integrally substantially at this time, the front wheels WL and WR are rotated at different speeds, since the outside diameters A and B thereof are different. When there is an unbalance between the front wheels WL and WR, therefore, vibration (shimmy) occurs in the circumferential direction of a steering wheel, a frequency component corresponding to a difference between rotational frequencies of the front wheels WL and WR is added thereto and the shimmy becomes a vibration waveform accompanied by a beat. Accordingly, the unbalance between tires can be detected accurately and efficiently.
