摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high beam and a low beam by receiving a power signal and imparting an AC electromagnet power in order to drive an electromagnet in respect to an AC lamp current. SOLUTION: A lamp control device 16 or a ballast drives a lamp for a proper light output. Although it is easy to adapt a magnetic control to the operating frequency of the ballast as the operating frequency is lower, a discharge lamp with low operating frequency weakens the influence of arc more, and a low- pressure lamp particularly does so. The more diffused arc tends to impart the weaker light projection. A preferable lamp ballast cuts a direct current of about 12 B reaching an AC signal from a vehicle battery. Thus, the cut AC signal of 12 V is converted to a lamp operating voltage. Preferably, the lamp control device 16 outputs a rectangular wave signal and has an operating frequency of about 400 Hz. Since the arc response time is delayed in a high- pressure lamp, the necessity of closely coordinating the arc current direction T with the magnetic field is minimized.
