摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester variously modified with its side chains, comprising structural units represented by two specified formulas and having an inherent viscosity above a specified value. CONSTITUTION:A polyester comprising structural units of formulas I and II in a [I] to [II] molar ratio of (0.1:99.9) to (99.9:0.1) and having an inherent viscosity etainh of 0.1 or above. In the above formulas, R0 is a 1-40C and F-free monovalent organic group; R1 and R3 are each a 1-40C bivalent organic group; R2 is a 1-40C bivalent organic group free of a group of formula III (wherein R0 is as defined above; and (n) is 0 or 1). Because various side chains can be introduced into the above polyester according to the purpose, the control of the solubility of the resin in a solvent, the improvement of its compatibility with another resin, the impartation of interfacial migration properties, etc., can be performed. The formed polyesters can be used as resin modifiers, polymeric plasticizers, surface modifiers, adhesives, mold releases, compatibilizers for polymer alloys, etc. They can be used by molding into film, sheet or other moldings by known processes.

In formulae I and II, (p) is 10 - 10,000; (q) is 0 or 1; A is (X)l - (Y)m - (Z)n; each of X and Z is a specified 0-containing hydrocarbon group; Y is O-CO, R-CO, NH-CO, or the like; R is a specified group; and each of (l), (m), and (n) is 0 or 1.
