    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing ethylene-based wax with narrow molecular weight distribution. SOLUTION: The method for producing the ethylene-based wax comprises carrying out a homopolymerization of ethylene or copolymerization of ethylene with a ≥3C olefin in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst comprising (A) a groupIV transition metal compound of the general formula(1)( wherein, R 1 to R 14 are each H, a hydrocarbon group or silicon-containing group, and adjoining substituents from R 1 to R 14 may be bound to each other to form a ring; M is Ti, Zr or Hf; Y is a groupXIV atom; Q is selected in a same or different combination from the category consisting of a halogen, 1-10C hydrocarbon group, ≤10C neutral, conjugated or nonconjugated diene, anionic ligand, and ligand capable of coordinating in lone-pair electrons; n is an integer of 2-4; and j is an integer of 1-4 ), (B) a compound capable of forming an ion pair through reaction with the compound A and (C) an organoaluminum compound to form an ethylene (co)polymer ≤0.60 dL/g in intrinsic viscosity[η] as the objective wax.
