摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sizing composition exhibiting very excellent compatibility between glass fiber to be used for manufacturing fiber-reinforced plastics and a polymer matrix. SOLUTION: The sizing composition is used on glass fibers which are used to reinforce plastic resins used in the formation of fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP). The sizing composition comprises a copolymer formed from at least one functional monomer that is selected from the group consisting of hydroxy functional group or the mixture of the hydroxy, phenyl and/or alkoxylated functional groups. 摘要： PURPOSE:To improve the autoclave resistance of an alkali-resistant glass fiber chopped strand containing ZrO2 coating the strand with a thermoplastic resin by a suspension polymerization method. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. of a monomer such as styrene or vinyl chloride forming a thermoplastic resin such as PS or PVC is compounded with 5-800pts. wt. of glass fiber chopped strands prepared by cutting a strand comprising 10-800 filaments each having a diameter of =10mol% of ZrO2, 100-3,000pts.wt. of an aqueous medium, 0.1-5pts.wt. of a suspension stabilizer of PVA and 0.005-3pts.wt. of a radical-generating polymerization initiator such as benzoyl peroxide, followed by suspension-polymerizing the mixture at approximately 80 deg.C. The reaction product is subsequently separated from water, washed with water and dried to provide an alkali-resistant glass fiber chopped strand. 100pts.wt. of an inorganic matrix such as cement mortar is blended with 0.5-15pts.wt. of the chopped strand and subsequently molded to provide a molding product having a high strength.

On the other hand, the surface is treated by an electroless plating, CVD method, etc., of the metals, such as Ni, Sn, and Ta or inorg. compds., such as TiC, ZrC and SiC in the case of combining the fiber with the metals or ceramics.
