    • PURPOSE:To perform a proper maintenance by a method wherein a printer printing line number calculating part for calculating and storing the printing line number of a printer having functions of receipt printing and journal printing is provided, a count value is compared with a preset threshold, and a preventive maintenance time is displayed. CONSTITUTION:When outputting printing data to a printer 4, a printer control task 1 checks the data and counts the number of lines to be printed by the printer 4. If the need for counting up a printer printing line number count area 3 occurs, the control is transferred to a printer printing line number calculating part 2. The printer printing line number calculating part 2 counts up the printer printing line number count area 3, thereafter returning the control to the printer control task 1. At the start of this system, an operating system 6 compares the value of the printer printing line number count area 3 with a preset threshold. When the count value is increased more than the threshold, a maintenance message is displayed. Therefore, the complete fault of the printer can be prevented, and the time for replacing the printer device can be pre-judged for taking an early countermeasure therefor.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily determine whether or not a certificate stamp, which is issued when the electric power is broken down during the printing operation and the electric power is supplied again, is valid. SOLUTION: This certificate stamp issuing machine comprises an in-printing time power break-down memory means 13, a counting means 16, a printing line memory means 13, a power bleak-down judging means 11, 12, a printing condition judging means 11, 12 and a control means 11, 12. The judgment is made whether or not the printing is performed until a position whereby the printed result can be used as a certificate stamp in accordance with printed lines at a time when the electric power is break down during the printing operation. After the electric power is supplied again, an operation for making the printed result valid or invalid is executed based on the judgment result. When the operation for making it invalid is executed, the counting number of issued pieces of the certificate stamps is decreased and when the operation for making it valid is executed, the counting number is increased. The invalidating operation is executed such that a part of a roll paper, which is judged that printing is not performed to a position whereby it can be used as a certificate stamp (postage stamp) by the printing condition judging means 11, 12, is cut by a cutter.

    • PURPOSE:To make a control only by software, by comparing the necessary number of lines to print an output with a printable number of lines remaining in a roll paper and, detecting whether the remaining roll paper is enough to print the output. CONSTITUTION:When it is detected as a report output (S1), the necessary number of lines L for the report output is operated (S2). Moreover, (the remaining number of lines of a roll paper N) = (the printable number of lines of the using roll paper) - (the number of lines already fed by a fixed amount) is obtained (S3). It is detected whether the necessary number of lines for the report output is left in the roll paper with the use of the L and N obtained at the S2 and S3. When the paper is sufficient, the report output is generated normally. If the paper is short, a near end treatment is conducted (S5), e.g. an alarming buzzer is sounded. If it is decided to print out, although the paper is short (S6), the alarm is freed and a report output instruction is outputted (S7), which is followed by a procedure when a near end detection is carried out at a printing time of anything other than a report (S8-S119).
