    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock having a wedge which is used to secure separable components of an assembly with each other so as to be releasable. SOLUTION: The wedge can be used with a spool. The wedge and the spool are coupled to each other so as to drive the wedge into and out of the opening of the assembly without using a hammer or a lever in a threaded manner. The direct coupling of the wedge and the spool eliminates the need for bolts, washers, nuts and other parts so as to reduce the number of parts. Consequently, the lock can be manufactured at low cost and is easy to use, and is unlikely to fail to operate due to a loss or damage of the parts, or due to particles or other various difficulties encountered in a tough drilling environment. Furthermore, the wedge can be driven into the assembly to provide the degree of tightness necessary for the intended operation and/or can re-tighten the assembly after suffering wear during use.
