    • PURPOSE:To form a piston in a precise shape, by forming, on the outer surface of a piston which slightly smaller than the finished one, a cover layer made of a compound consisting of 25 to 45wt% of aluminum flakes, 2 to 30wt% of solid lubricant composed of, for example, carbon fluoride and the balance of epoxy resin. CONSTITUTION:A compound material consisting of 25 to 45wt% aluminum flakes, 2 to 30wt% of a solid lubricant consisting of carbon fluoride or griphite and the balance of epoxy resin is applied on the outer peripheral surface of a piston P0 having a shape which is slightly smaller than that of the finished one, and is heated under a temperature of 90 to 230 deg. more than 20min. to be baked so that a cover layer 1 is formed. Then the thus obtained piston P1 is incorporated in an engine which is then operated for a predetermined time period, so that there is obtained such a piston that the cover layer 1 is worn corresponding to the inner peripheral shape of an engine cylinder.
