    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upper frame opening and closing mechanism and an image forming apparatus using the same in which danger or impact possibly caused by releasing an upper frame during opening of the upper frame can be reliably prevented with a compact configuration and an unexpensive means. SOLUTION: The upper frame opening and closing mechanism includes: the upper frame 30 pivotally attached to a body unit 1 including an image forming section 2 so as to be opened and closed with a rotational shaft 46 as the center, which receives a moment in an opposite direction in an opening direction due to gravity when the upper frame is opened at an angle exceeding an inversion angle θ so as to expose the image forming section outside; an arm member 52, a base end of which is pivotally mounted on the upper frame; and a rail member 55 mounted on the body unit, to guide a leading edge of the arm member along with opening and closing of the upper frame. Energizing members such as a revolving shaft spring 47 and an arm spring 70 for energizing in the direction of opening the upper frame are assembled. In addition, a cushion member 58 is provided to an end edge of the rail member, to be pressed by the leading edge of the arm member so as to cushion the opening of the upper frame when the upper frame is opened at a maximum opening angle relative to the body unit.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to improve the facility of assembly of a sheet case while enabling the hinge pin of the sheet case to be prevented from coming out in a printer equipped with the sheet case containing sheets. The installation part 10 has a stopper 12a preventing the hinge pin 30a from coming out. The stopper 12a is formed by members with elastic force. When external force is not applied, the stopper is held at the position overlapping to near the center of the installation-side pin hole 19a.
