    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which performs imaging in such a way that an excellent resolution conversion result can be obtained even when improving a resolution through resolution conversion during playback. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus discriminates an image frame to extract as a reference image from a plurality of image frames constituting a moving image, using a histogram, for example, and generates a reference image data file with a reference image extracting unit 105. An encoder unit 108 encodes the plurality of image frames after reducing the resolution thereof, and generates an encoded moving image data file. A list in which an image frame corresponding to the reference image data file in the encoded moving image data file is associated with information specifying the corresponding reference image data file, is generated with a content information list generation unit 107.
