    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inner drum system multi-beam exposure method that makes a high-speed exposure process possible, without inducing loss in light quantity.
      SOLUTION: A light beam Lb in a plurality of light beams La, Lb emitting from light sources 30A and 30B, respectively based on an image signal is controlled to be deflected by a light-deflecting means 116 and 118.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inner drum exposing device capable of performing recording in a way that halftones can be stably expressed by using an FM screen.
      SOLUTION: A light beam L of linearly polarized light emitted from a light source 30 is converted to circularly polarized light by a quarter-wave plate 32 arranged in an optical path. The light beam L converted to the circularly polarized light is separated to an ordinary ray and an extraordinary ray in a vertical scanning direction at equal density when the light beam transmits an optical element 26 of a uniaxial crystal and is thereafter reflected by a reflection mirror surface 18A of a scanning means 16 and is made into a distribution of an approximately rectangular shape with respect to the vertical scanning direction to a condensing point on a recording medium 14. In addition, the light beam is condensed to a beam spot of a steepened edge and is subjected to exposure processing. As a result, the image unevenness to the vertical scanning direction is appropriately suppressed without being affected by the fluctuation in color development threshold of the recording medium 14 and the intensity fluctuation etc., of the light beam L and the expression of the halftones can be stably recorded by using the FM screen.
