摘要： A computer system, method and apparatus includes: centrally managing user identification names and passwords that are assigned to users, target names of storage devices, addresses, and logical units; acquiring target names of storage devices and logical unit names from the user identification names and passwords obtaining the addresses of the storage devices from the user identification names, passwords, and target names; and dynamically creating access control information of the logical units for each session in an iSCSI session establishment processing. The system, method and apparatus enable sharing of storage devices so as to enable users to use logical units assigned to the users in any computers in a system using storage devices complying with the iSCSI protocol, connected to networks, such as IP networks, through node devices, such as cache devices and gateway devices.

SOLUTION: A system and method for storing encrypted electronic data using a transmission Control Protocol (TCP), requires leaving both a header and the first 48 bytes of a "0" data packet in a data area of the TCP format in clear text. Consequently, data can be routed to a main address (storage facility), and then to a sub-address (storage device) for storage. A single compression/encryption operation can be accomplished, before storage at a host (server), a network switch, or the final storage device.

摘要： A storage router (56) and storage network (50) provide virtual local storage on remote SCSI storage devices (60, 62, 64) to Fibre Channel devices. A plurality of Fibre Channel devices, such as workstations (58), are connected to a Fibre Channel transport medium (52), and a plurality of SCSI storage devices (60, 62, 64) are connected to a SCSI bus transport medium (54). The storage router (56) interfaces between the Fibre Channel transport medium (52) and the SCSI bus transport medium (54). The storage router (56) maps between the workstations (58) and the SCSI storage devices (60, 62, 64) and implements access controls for storage space on the SCSI storage devices (60, 62, 64). The storage router (56) then allows access from the workstations (58) to the SCSI storage devices (60, 62, 64) using native low level, block protocol in accordance with the mapping and the access controls.

摘要： The present invention provides a method and system for mapping addressing of SCSI devices between two SANs connected by a SAN extender over a packet-based network with use of a Fibre channel protocol over large distances. The present invention seamlessly interconnects graphically distinct SANs such that they operate as if they were local to one another by providing a means to generically and dynamically map SCSI device addresses between two SANs. The present invention provides a method and system for accessing a device from a host, wherein the host and device are in separate SANs interconnected by a transport layer, and wherein the interface between said transport layer and each of said SANs is a node. This method comprises, at each node, the steps of: mapping the device address into an intermediary device identifier, and mapping the intermediary device identifier into an address accessible by the host. Each node can be a Fibre channel-to-SCSI router, and the intermediary device identifier can comprise a node identifier and a generic device identifier. The transport layer can be a packet-based network.
