摘要： Various techniques for improving a wireless communication device are described. The techniques may include reducing power in a wireless communication device for a first sleep period and then increasing power in the wireless communication device for an intermediate wake period after the first sleep period to estimate an error of the sleep clock. The method may further include reducing power in the wireless communication device for a second sleep period after the intermediate wake period. The intermediate wake mode implemented during the intermediate period can be used to estimate the error of the sleep clock without performing one or more tasks associated with an awake mode, such as demodulation. The techniques may facilitate the effective use of low frequency low power clocks for sleep mode, even when relatively large slot cycles are defined within a slotted paging system.

摘要： A method for providing wireless communication of digital signals, the digital signals being communicated between a plurality of wireless subscriber units and a base station, the digital signals being communicated using at least one radio frequency channel via Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) modulated radio signals, the digital signals also having a given nominal data rate, the method comprising the steps of: a) making available a plurality of subchannels within each CDMA raido channel, wherein a data rate of each subchannel is less than the nominal data rate of the digital signals; b) allocating available subchannels on an as-needed basis, wherein the number of subchannels allocated is variable during the duration of a given session; and c) on a reverse link, providing an idling mode connection for subscriber units which are powered on, but not presently actively sending data, wherein the idling mode connection is operable to enable subchannels to be reallocated without re-establishing a bit synchronization with the base station.

摘要： An object of the present invention is to disconnect communication as soon as possible for reducing power dissipation when it is decided that it will take long to determine if the local spread code and the reception spread code are synchronized on a mobile communication terminal that employs Code Division Multiple Access. When it is decided that the common channel level 'a' is equal to or higher than a third threshold (common channel level threshold), an RLF decision control unit 16 compares the SIR data 'd' with a first threshold and a second threshold to decide in sync state or out-of sync state between the local spread code and the reception spread code and outputs the decision signal 'e'. In particular, when it is decided that the common channel level 'a' is lower than the third threshold, the first threshold and the second threshold are set to the same value. In this state, when it is decided that the level of the SIR data 'd' is lower than the first threshold (=second threshold), the decision signal 'e' corresponding to an out-of sync state is output immediately after a predetermined delay time elapses. 摘要： Methods and apparatus that improve interference (I) estimation in CDMA systems in which the DPCH is sorted under a scrambling code different from the scrambling code of a channel such as the CPICH are described. In such systems, DPCH I-estimation cannot be done by measuring on the CPICH and transforming to the DPCH due to the different interference situations on the two channels. Instead, the DPCH interference is estimated by using knowledge of empty channelization codes in the alternative or secondary scrambling code that can be used for I estimation, or using symbols (e.g., control symbols on the DPCCH) on the DPCH, or searching for an empty channelization code and using a found empty code for I-estimation. These techniques improve the SIR estimate in comparison to prior techniques and hence also improve the performance of power control, increasing the system's capacity.
