    • PURPOSE:To reduce remarkably the number of additions, by holding always the total sum at the input of new data and operating sum or difference with a prescribed ratio to the input data so as to attain filter processing. CONSTITUTION:A memory 1 stores MXN data in the entire area from a two- dimensional picture obtained at a raster scanning from an input terminal (a) through the address designation of an address generating section 8. A memory 2 stores the total sum for one line's share in the raster direction stored in the memory 1 with the combination between a substractor 3 and an adder 4. Further, a subtractor 6 takes difference between both outputs of a register 5 and the memory 2 and an adder 7 performs addition between this difference and the data of the adder 4. The output of the adder 4 is stored in the register 5, in which the total sum of the MXN areas is stored. Further, a constant designating the filter characteristic is stored in a register 9, its output is added to an output of the memory 1 at an adder 11 via a multiplier 10 and the result of filtering is obtained from the adder 11. Only four times of addition/subtraction have only to be needed through the constitution above.
