    • PURPOSE:To reduce coma aberration, equalize spot diameter and obtain uniform and high grade picture by controlling electron beam at the initial generating stage of electron in such a way as it is deflected and focused in the vertical direction. CONSTITUTION:This picture display apparatus uses five rear electrodes of 33a-33e per line. Electron group generated from the line cathode 36 is vertically deflected and vertically focused by selecting adequately a voltage applied to the seven electrodes including vertical deflection electrodes 34a, 34b. The dotted lines indicate the electron beams where all electrons generated are vertically deflected while being focused. As explained above, since the speed component can be given to the upper part of vertical direction when the electrons are generated, generation of aberration can be controlled to the utmost and the spot diameter can be equalized. Thereby, almost all electrons generated can be guided, realizing improvement in power efficiency and increase in brightness.

    • PURPOSE: To improve the resolution on the entire region of a screen face by applying the acceleration voltage which decreases with the increase of the horizontal beam deflection angle on an auxiary acceleration or an auxiliary focus electrode having a slit made at the pre-focus lens forming section.
      CONSTITUTION: An auxiliary acceleration electrode 15 having an elongated slit 16 is provided between an acceleration electrode 7 facing against a control electrode 6 having three cathodes and a focus electrode 10 constituting a main lens. Said slit 16 has the increased pre-focus lens function in the horizontal direction, thus to deform the electron beam to have the cross-section elongated in the lateral direction while to deform the shape of the beam spot to be elongated in longitudinal direction. Consequently when applying the acceleration voltage on the auxiliary acceleration electrode 15 same with that on the acceleration electrode 7 and decreasing said voltage gradually with the increase of the horizontal beam deflection angle, the spot at the left and right circumferences can be approximated to a real circle while maintaining the beam spot at the central portion of the screen face to a real circle resulting in the improvement of the resolution at the entire region of the screen face.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a beam spot of truely circular form by making the periphery of a yoke to have a non-circular shape like the other electrodes, providing a crescent and convex part on the upper and lower sides of the beam passing holes, and providing a crescent and concave part on both sides of the side beam passing holes. CONSTITUTION:A cathode 2, a first and a second grid 3 and 4, and a magnetic yoke 50 are placed in a bulb 1, and an annular permanent magnet 8 is placed outside the bulb 1, thereby constituting an electromagnetic focusing cathode-ray tube. The first and the second grids 3 and 4 and the magnetic yoke 50 have non- circular shapes since they are formed by cutting circular shapes. The parts corresponding to the cut parts of the yoke 50 is supported with supporting rods. A crescent and convex part 52 is provided on the upper and lower sides of beam passing holes 51C, 51S1 and 51S2, which are provided in a magnetic yoke 51, while a crescent and concave part 53 is provided on both sides of side beam passing holes 51S1 and 51S2. Consequently, the abberation caused due to the non-circular form of the yoke can be corrected, and the beam can be made to have a truely circular shape.

    • PURPOSE:To enable good resolutions to be realized over the entire area of a phosphor screen by correcting the configurational distortion of a beam spot caused by an electron beam which is deflected in an uneven deflecting magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:An electron beam 25, when passing through a synthetic lens 24, is focused intensely in the horizontal direction and weakly in the vertical direction, thereby causing a focus point 26 of the vertical direction to be formed at a point more distant from the lens 24 than a focus point 27 of the horizontal direction. Owing to such an effect, the electron beam 25 focused weakly in the horizontal direction and intensely in the vertical direction in a deflecting magnetic field according to the increase in the degree of beam deflection as mentioned above is suppressed. As a result, even a beam spot formed by a horizontally intensely deflected electron beam can be caused to have a shape close to a true circle, and the resolutions of the both sides especially as well as the areas on the diagonals of a phosphor screen are increased. Consequently, since the distortion of a beam spot appearing near the upper center of the phosphor screen is originally insignificant, a very clear playback picture can be realized over the entire area of the phosphor screen.
