    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing and drying method and a printing and drying device by which deformation of a support sheet by heat in a drying chamber is suppressed, and misregistration in printing can be suppressed as a result, and which exhibit a high operating efficiency. SOLUTION: According to the printing and drying method, the long narrow support sheet 20 is stretched over across a printing area 42 and a drying area 44 in the lengthwise direction. In the printing area 42, predetermined patterns are printed on the support sheet 20 as a first tensional force F1 is applied to the support sheet 20. After that, the support sheet 20 is fed toward the drying area 44. In the drying area 44, the support sheet 20 on which the predetermined patterns are printed is dried in a drying chamber 62 as a second tensional force F2 is applied to it. The first tensional force F1 and the second tensional force F2 are applied by separate tension applying means. Since the second tensional force F2 is applied along the length of the support sheet 20, contraction of the support sheet 20 in the lengthwise direction can be prevented when it passes through the drying area 44.
