    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and playback device capable of performing recording with high density even in a track pitch direction when information is recorded using near-field light and to provide a recording and playback system. SOLUTION: The recording and playback device includes a light source and a near-field light generating part having two conductive body parts disposed opposite to each other at a prescribed interval and near-field light generating part generating near-field light between the two conductive body parts by irradiation with light from the light source. The two conductive body parts are disposed so that the opposite direction of the two conductive body parts is nearly orthogonal to a line direction of a recording medium when information recording is performed to the recording medium using the near-field light.
