    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical recording medium capable of effectively achieving an increase in a Kerr rotation angle, and improvements in a recording density and recording sensitivity by using a simple structure, and a layer structure.
      SOLUTION: A minute ruggedness structure is formed on a substrate 10 and a magnetic layer 20 is formed thereon. The ruggedness structure 10a is reflected in the magnetic layer 20. With the reflected ruggedness structure, multiple reflection occurs to reproduction laser light. When the multiple reflection occurs to the reproduction laser light, a Kerr rotation action is superimposed each time reflection is repeated at the magnetic layer 20. As a result, an increasing effect on a Kerr rotation angle with respect to the reproduction laser light is expected. Also, with the ruggedness structure reflected in the magnetic layer 20, the surface area of the magnetic layer 20 is increased. Thus, the temperature rise of the magnetic layer 20 by laser light irradiation is increased. Further, since an applied magnetic field is concentrated in the tip end portion of the ruggedness structure, the magnetic field strength of the ruggedness structure is increased. As a result, the recording sensitivity of the magnetic layer 20 with respect to the laser light and the applied magnetic field is increased.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method utilizing the reaction diffusion, in which a phase change method and/or magneto-optical method as recorded by causing reaction diffusion of a dielectric layer and a recording layer by a laser beam, and to provide a recording medium utilizing this recording method and a recording and reproducing apparatus for recording information on the recording medium and reproducing recorded information. SOLUTION: The purpose is attained by the recording methods: utilizing the reaction diffusion for recording information on a recording medium by a phase change system utilizing a change in an absorption coefficient of an optical constant by the reaction diffusion between a recording layer and a dielectric layer; utilizing the reaction diffusion for recording information on the recording medium by a magneto-optical system by causing a change in a magnetic spin direction at the reaction diffusion between the recording layer and the dielectric layer; and utilizing the reaction diffusion for recording information on the recording medium by utilizing a physical characteristic wherein a reaction diffusion part is swollen and convex at the reaction diffusion between the recording layer and the dielectric layer, and by the recording medium, and by the recording and reproducing apparatus capable of recording information on the recording medium and reproducing the recorded information.
