    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a performance assisting device and a keyboard instrument capable of preventing from making a user feel uncomfortable by reducing time differences between user's performance and accompaniment. SOLUTION: In an automatic performance piano which is a keyboard instrument having the performance assisting device, a controller can detect a key pressed down by passing through a measurement point which is a location shallower than a sounding location before sounding a tone corresponding to the key from a string by a user pressing down the key corresponding to a cue note, so that time differences between a point of restarting accompaniment and a point of sounding the string can be reduced. For example, when the key is pressed down as shown in Figure 6, the controller can detect the key pressed down 15 milliseconds fast, so that the time differences can be reduced to a few milliseconds and it is possible to prevent from making the user feel uncomfortable.
