    • PURPOSE: To improve the operability of a tape leader, by providing a means which measures the interruption time of the excitation of a feed magnet and control means which interrupts a brake magnet also when the interruption time of the excitation costs more than a prescribed time.
      CONSTITUTION: A tape leader is provided with a means, such as a counter which measures the interruption time of the excitation of a feed magnet 4, timer, etc., and a control means, such as a processing device 13 which interrupts the excitation of a brake magnet also, etc. Also it is arranged that, when reading of the punched information of a tape 1 is completed and the tape 1 is exchanged with another, the excitation of the feed magnet 4 and brake magnet 5 is interrupted. Therefore, exchange of the tape 1 can be made without requiring any operations of a manual switch, etc., and operability can be improved.

    • PURPOSE: To reduce the power consumption and to prevent the overheat of a capstan motor by stopping the capstan motor in case a feed magnet is not energized for a fixed period of time and driving the capstan motor only when a tape is fed.
      CONSTITUTION: A capstan motor 3 of a tape reader is excited, and a contact is secured between a capstan roller 2 and a feed roller 4 with revolutions of the motor 3. Then a tape 1 is fed by an exciting magnet 5. When the excitation of the magnet 5 is cut off, a brake magnet 6 is excited to stop the feed of the tape 1. The output given from a data processing part 14 of the tape reader is applied to a monostable multivibrator 15 via a data output part 12. Then it is detected by a logical circuit consisting of OR gates 16 and 22, a NAND gate 19, etc. that the magnet 5 is not excited for a fixed period of time. Then a relay 24 is actuated to stop the revolution of the motor 3. This reduces the power consumption and prevents the overheat of the motor 3.
