    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect reduction in the voltage of a power source, without providing a circuit to be used exclusively for voltage detection such as a comparator circuit.
SOLUTION: A stepping motor control circuit includes: a battery 113 for supplying power at least to a stepping motor 108; a rotation detection circuit 109 for detecting a rotation state of the stepping motor 108; and a control means for performing drive control of the stepping motor 108 by selecting a kind of main drive pulses P1 upgraded in rank from a plurality of kinds of main drive pulses P1 different mutually in energy rank, when the rotation detection circuit 109 detects an energy shortage on the occasion of rotation drive by main drive pulses P1. The control means determines that the voltage of the battery 113 lowers to a predetermined value or lower, when the rank is upgraded a certain number of times smaller than a predetermined number of times within a predetermined period of time and reaches a main drive pulse P1max of a predetermined rank.

    • PURPOSE:To save the electric power consumption of a watch body from its completion to the sale by operating an external operation switch and operating an entire stopping circuit which stops an oscillation circuit, a frequency dividing circuit, a display device, etc., through a timer circuit. CONSTITUTION:The whole circuit consists of a control circuit 4 which generates a control signal with the external operation switch 7 and the entire stopping circuit 6 which stops theoscillation circuit 1, etc., after the output of the output signal of the timer circuit 5 to the resetting of the switch 7. When the switch 7 is closed, the timer circuit 5 starts and is released from a second adjusting state when the switch 7 is opened within a specific time to start time clocking operation; and the entire stopping circuit 6 is operated by the timer circuit 5 unless the switch 7 is open within the specific time, thereby stopping the oscillation circuit 1, etc. Consequently, the power consumption up to the sale is reduced and the left of the battery is maintained.

    • PURPOSE:To add a power saving function newly without spoiling the functions of external operation switches by stopping power supply a specific time after a timepiece operation stop switch is turned off. CONSTITUTION:A timer circuit 1 which is supplied with electric power performs timer operation of oscillation and frequency division to output a signal to a timer circuit 2. The timer circuit 2 further divides the frequency of the output signal of the timer circuit 1. A driving circuit 3 drives a stepping motor 4 with the output of the timer circuit 2 to display time. When an external operation switch 11 is turned on, the timer circuit 2 and driving circuit 3 stop operating immediately. Consequently, the timer operation stops. A timer circuit 5, on the other hand, operates to start clocking operation with the signal from the time circuit 1. When the timer circuit 5 clocks a specific time, a transistor 6 is turned on with its output to power off the timer circuit 1.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic clock capable of avoiding an occurrence of a defect by shifting to a power save mode during chronographic measurement (during time measuring operation).SOLUTION: An electronic clock 1 of this invention compares no illumination and non-operation time (time when a state continues in which no incident light on a solar panel 111 is obtained and an operation part 116 does not perform operation) with a prescribed first shifting time (for example, two hours) in the case where a time measuring operation is not performed in a chronographic mode ST10 or a timer mode ST20, and compares the no illumination and non-operation time with a prescribed second shifting time (for example, 72 hours) longer than the first shifting time in the case where the time measuring operation is performed in the chronographic mode ST10 or the timer mode ST20. The electronic clock 1 shifts to a power save mode to stop a display operation in a display part 118 when the no illumination and non-operation time passes the shifting times.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a power supply voltage without providing a voltage detection circuit, and to stop driving in a state in which information on accurate driving pulses is held when the power supply voltage drops to a predetermined voltage or lower.SOLUTION: A detection section T detecting a rotation state of a stepping motor 105 is divided into a plurality of sections T1 to T3, and when a pattern of an induction signal VRs detected in each section indicates that a secondary battery 113 has a voltage drop to the predetermined voltage or lower, a control circuit 103 stores the polarity of a drive pulse of last driving in a polarity storage part 103a, and stops driving the stepping motor 105. When the voltage of the secondary battery 113 recovers to the predetermined voltage or higher, driving is started with main driving pulses having the opposite polarity to the polarity stored in the polarity storage part 103a.
